Trinidad Heritage Dark Bar
A limited edition bar made with fine ground beans from selected heritage estates in Trinidad aiming to revive the culture of cacao growing on this island so historically linked to this crop.
Trinidad where the first Trinitario trees were planted is holy grounds for cacao, which is an integral part of its history, culture and economics. In 1920, cocoa was the highest contributor to the National Treasury with over 35,000 tonnes of fine beans harvested. Today the production has shrunk to fewer than 1,000 tonnes. Various problems, including a dwindling farming population and inefficient cultivation methods that yield a low price for cacao crops, are putting the future of this incredibly rich heritage in danger. To help diversify the economy of Trinidad, resuscitate and capitalise on this highly valuable crop, we are proud to launch this bar made from Trinitario beans hand-picked from heritage estates. These precious beans are lovingly conched and refined in our atelier in Kent. The resulting chocolate is bursting with stone fruit and floral notes that make your taste buds beat to the drum of the typical Trinidadian steel pans.
